The admission fee for the Volunteer Park Conservatory is small ($4 for adults, $2 for youth, under 12 free), but it’s enough to push the Conservatory down on the things-to-do list for a lot of people. Now’s your chance to visit without having to pay. Admission is free until February 28th.
The free admission comes courtesy of the Bennet-Shear family. The children made a generous donation to celebrate their parents’ 40th wedding anniversary. The children grew up nearby and often walked to the park and toured through the conservatory, which was free to enter until 2013. What a neat way to honor their parents and benefit the community!
The Conservatory is open 10 am to 4 pm every day except Mondays.

That is a great way to honor the parents. Good on them! I may try and get up there.

Yeah, I thought it was pretty neat. Good excuse to make a visit for anyone who has been putting it off.
