Looking to expand your cultural activities? Celebrating Tanabata at the Japanese Garden in Washington Park Arboretum might be just the thing. The event will be held from 10 am to 7 pm on Saturday, July 9th.
The garden has a regular entrance fee, but there is no extra charge for the celebration.

Watching and identifying dragonflies and damselflies has become a popular hobby similar to birding. While there isn’t as much variety as with birds, there are more than 5,000 species worldwide. Washington State has over 80 species.
It’s difficult for me to believe, but it’s been forty years since Freeway Park in Seattle opened to the public. I was a teenager living in Edmonds at the time, and I remember thinking it was such a cool and creative way to bring green into the middle of the city.
Freeway Park was the first park in the U.S. to lid an interstate, and was an impressive feat of engineering.
