Bicycle Sundays

Have you ever wanted to take a scenic walk or bike ride on a Seattle street without having to dodge vehicle traffic? Then Bicycle Sundays are for you.

From May through September, Lake Washington Boulevard becomes a promenade on select Sundays. The road is closed to motorized traffic from 10 am to 6 pm. You can saunter, jog, run, skate, or cycle along the lake between Mount Baker Beach and Seward Park.  Take the family. Take a picnic. See two Seattle parks in one recreational outing.

The assignment from the WPC today is to “share your vision of our glorious Mother Earth”. This picture was taken with my very first digital camera, a little Canon point and shoot, so the image quality is a bit lacking.

But it does help demonstrate why I think Washington State is such a gloriously beautiful example of the natural splendor of our Mother Earth.

With so many great parks within the city of Seattle it can be easy to forget that King County has a parks system as well. Marymoor Park is probably the best known. It’s the Disneyland of King County Parks, like Magnuson is for Seattle. Marymoor has the best dog park in the greater Seattle area, among other things.

I hope to eventually preview some of the King County parks, but I have so many in Seattle on my to-do list, I don’t know when I will get to it. So here are some links about King County parks in case you’re itching to get out of your local city and see something new.
