Last week I posted my preview for Fishermen’s Terminal. One of the annual events held there is the upcoming Fishermen’s Fall Festival, and it looks like a lot of fun. This year it will take place on Saturday, September 24th from 11 am to 6 pm.

The last time I was on Vashon Island was about forty years ago so I suspect I won’t get back there anytime soon. But if I were to go I’d want to stop by this location.
If you live on Vashon or are planning an outing to the island this looks like an interesting place to visit for nature lovers. This new view platform was recently built at the Island Center Forest overlooking Meadowlake Pond. From the information given it sounds accessible for those with mobility issues, though it’s not an ADA compliant path/site given the narrow trail and step up to the platform.

Anna’s Hummingbird
Anna’s hummingbirds are originally from California, but have been extending their range over the last more than half a century, and currently reach up into southern British Columbia. Their expansion success is attributed to the proliferation of gardens and feeders. They are now common in the Puget Sound region and are seen here year-round.
