This last Friday was my favorite kind of stormy day to go to a Puget Sound beach park. Dark clouds, wind blowing, and a break in the rain during high tide. With all conditions being met I grabbed my camera and headed out to Marina Beach Park in Edmonds.

I was hoping there would be some kiteboarders enjoying the action. From previous brief stops at the park I knew Marina Beach was a popular spot for the sport. But I’d always either not had my camera with me at all or did but not with a longer lens. This time I came prepared and there was one hardy soul braving the cold water.

This barge being towed by a tug boat was having a rough time of it.

Just before I left to warm up with a hot meal at the nearby Channel Marker Pub I saw sunbeams coming through a break in the clouds on the other side of the sound.
