A couple weeks ago I was amused to see that the light for the D was out in this sign, making one of the famous Seattle burger stands sound slightly less appetizing.
Posted for Cee’s B&W Challenge with the topic of the letters G or H. H is for hamburgers!
I love your first photo. I don’t know if I would want to eat at Ick’s. 😀

Love your shots but I like “ick’s” better.

Heh. I’ll pass that on next time I get a burger there. 😉

Of all the letters on the sign, *that* one had to go out. 🙂

Heh, yep! I wonder if anyone even realized that the name is ick’s without the D before this? I didn’t.

Really funny! Although “Dick’s” is not a name I would have chosen, either. 🙂

Heh, yeah. The drive-ins were named for Dick Spady, one of the three founders, in 1954. There’s also a completely unafilliated Dick’s Drive-in in Spokane from the same era with a very similar style building, but named for a different Dick. Since the name was fairly common in the past I don’t think it held nearly the strong association it does now. 😀
